Process Designer
The Process Designer is the main control of Logistix Workflow.NET. The workflow process is designed and deployed
from the Process Designer user interface. It opens when the Process Designer control is embedded and configured
from a Web Form in the Web Application.
The Process Designer is an ASP.NET server control that can be embedded in any Web based product, ASP Engine
or Web Page. It is browser based, requiring no plug-in or IDE; in addition the look and feel can be completely
customized. The Process Designer provides complete drag-and-drop and link functionalities to design your
processes. The Process Designer has two areas:
-
Staging Area - Where you can design and save multiple versions of a workflow process design
-
Deployment Area - Where you
can select and execute your desired version. By
default, the Logistix Workflow.NET Engine always
executes the latest version
The Process Designer user interface has four parts -
- Tool bar, which has a set of controls for performing specific actions
- Toolbox, which has the different menus with the actions available in Logistix Workflow.NET
- Design Area, which is used to design workflow processes
- Properties Window, which is
used to configure the properties of the action
selected in the Design Area

Activity List
The Activity List control gives Logistix Workflow.NET a means to create user dashboards for resources involved in
workflow processes, enabling them to view the activities assigned to them and take necessary action. The user
interface displays when the Activity List control is embedded and configured from a Web Form in the Web Application.
The actions assigned to resources in the workflow process are listed in the Activity List with a provision to sort
and search them. The activities will be displayed for the resource currently logged in. The resource can select an
activity to display a detailed view with Action specific web controls.
The appearance of the Activity List can be completely customized. Colors are managed by styles sheets and can be
changed at any point of time. HTML files are maintained which can be edited to change the look and feel of the
controls according to need.
The Activity List user interface has five main elements -
- Activity List Table, which lists the incoming activities
- Activity Detailed View, which displays a detailed view of the selected activity
- Search Activities, which allows the resource to search the activity list
- Resource Calendar, which opens the Resource Calendar interface
- Alternate Resource, which
opens the interface to specify the alternate resource
Calendar
The calendar control is one of the support controls of Logistix Workflow.NET, which helps time management in the
workflows. There are two calendar controls - Organization Calendar control and Resource Calendar control. The
Organization Calendar control can be embedded in a Web Application's Web Form to display a user interface. The
holiday and shift details of the organization can be specified here. Similarly, the Resource Calendar control
opens a user interface where a resource can enter his/her holiday details as well as select the work shift. These
details are used to compute the business hours that will be used in the workflow process created in the Process
Designer. The Calendar Control supports the Engine in computing timeouts for workflows in progress, on the basis
of the above details.
The Organization Calendar user interface has three main elements -
- Calendar, which shows the selected holidays
- Select Weekly Holidays list, where the weekly holiday for the organization can be selected
- Organization Shift Details,
where the work shifts of the organization can be set
up.
The Resource Calendar user interface has two main elements -
- Calendar, which can be used to select the resource holidays and shows the selected holidays
- Resource Shift Details, where
the resource can select his/her work shift.
Report
The Report Control adds report generation functionality to Logistix Workflow.NET. It allows the user to generate
and view reports of the workflow processes created in the Process Designer. The Report Filter user interface opens
when the Report control is embedded and configured from a Web Form in the Web Application. In this user interface
you can specify the Report Filter to select the workflow for which the report should be generated.
The Report Filter user interface has four main elements -
- Application Name, where you can select the Application to view the reports for
- Workflow Name, where you can select the Workflows to view the reports for
- Report Type, where you can select the type of report to view
- Proceed>> link, which
opens the next interface in the Report generation
process.
The Report Control has an extensive query engine that allows you to customize reports. Some of the various
levels of detail possible are:
- Graphical Display of status, paths and time metrics
- Data Presentation on multiple workflows in multiple views
- Reports based on actions,
resources, workflows, states and exceptions
